PROIECTUL ERASMUS ANCHORING DEMOCRACY. ERASMUS AND THE HUMANIST ROOTS OF EUROPE, Small-scale partnerships in adult education (KA210-ADU)
Currently, AAEV coordinates the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU project – Small-scale partnerships in adult education, “Anchoring Democracy. Erasmus and the Humanist Roots of Europe”, in partnership with Weltgewandt – Institut für interkulturelle politische Bildung e.V., Berlin, Germany, and Compagnie Duanama, Marseille, France.
Project focus– Adult education for democracy, humanistic values, and active citizenship
Main project themes:

- Identity, citizenship, and European values
Project implementation period:November 30, 2025 – August 29, 2027
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
- Joint acquisition of knowledge about the sources of democracy, especially humanism and the work of Desiderius Erasmus
- Facilitating access for marginalized groups and encouraging a deeper understanding of European values
- Promoting critical thinking, decision-making, and participation, as well as solidarity, freedom, and responsibility in the spirit of democracy, tolerance, and human rights
- Actively providing humanistic alternatives, focusing on examples and positive thinking that help individuals anchor themselves in society
- Fostering the joy of learning as a humanistic value, practiced through participatory methods, democratic dialogue, diverse perspectives, and engagement
- Promoting intercultural learning and thinking in European dimensions
- Encouraging networking and learning between European organizations
- Improving the competences of adult educators
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
- Local activities organized in all three partner countries, involving adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, rural parents, and migrants
- 3 Transnational Learning Activities (TLAs), each lasting 4 days, with 4 participants from each organization (disadvantaged learners and adult educators), hosted in Marseille, Berlin, and Vrancea County
- International collaboration to develop the project’s final results
- Dissemination of activities and results
- Final public event, as well as local events in Germany and France
- Project management, including continuous evaluation to ensure proper implementation and achievement of objectives

- 1/A jointly developed performance, including theatre scenes and creative elements, focused on democratic values, humanist figures, and their relevance today
- 2/A public event during the final TLA for promotion and dissemination of results
- 3/ A collection of humanist quotes (80 in total), to be gradually shared عبر participants’ social media channels
- 4/ 16 portraits of humanists and a collective portrait of Erasmus and his work, presented in a European performance
- Each partner will develop 3 portraits of (new) humanists:
- RO: Nicolaus Olahus (1493-1568)
- DE: Wilhelm von Humboldt (1767-1835)
- FR: Charles Bouilée (1816-1889)
- A dedicated web space www.weltgewandt-ev.de/humanists featuring a gallery of portraits, quotes, and documentation of project activities and performances
- 6/ Short videos (approx. 3 minutes) documenting each TLA
